Holiday Drink
The holiday season is all about spending time with love ones and engaging in eating/drinking habits we would normally not indulge in during the rest of the year, especially summer! With that being said you can’t properly celebrate the season without sugar…and I know, practice moderation, but let me be honest I’m going all out. Here is one of the sweet beverages I like to have during the season and throughout the colder months. Quick, easy, and you can save a few bucks not buying Starbucks. I use almond milk soooooo not that bad right….
“Not So Hot Chocolate” (as my husband calls it)
8oz Unsweetened Almond Milk
6-8 drops of Vanilla Extract
2 tsp Demerara Sugar
Peppermint White Chocolate Candy Bar (I recommend Lindt or Ghirardelli)
Whipped Cream (optional but in my mind necessary!)
The quickest way to make this is to just put your 8oz Unsweetened Almond Milk in a microwaveable mug, and make sure it has room for your whipped cream. Heat it up to your liking, I prefer mine hot, you may like it more on the warm side. Add your Vanilla Extract and Demerara Sugar…stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Now this is important: make sure you use Demerara Sugar! It gives the beverage a different taste than your regular sugar, as it has a molasses flavor with caramel undertones.
Once your milk, sugar, and vanilla extract are all mixed together put your whipped cream on top. Take a piece of your candy bar and grate it over the whipped cream. Lastly drop your candy bar in your milk and you’re all finished! I suggest having a spoon with your beverage so you can mix in the candy bar as it melts. Can we say delish!
Enjoy your warm beverage and have a happy holidays!
Let me know if you tried it, how it came out for you, and/or any of your fav holiday drinks you make at home!
